13.2Methods of Securing Compter Networks

Network security combines several layers of defenses at both the entry point and
within the network. Each security layer enforces policies and controls. Authorized
users gain access to network resources, while malicious entities are blocked from
attempting intrusions or threats.
13.2.1Firewall
A firewall is a network security device that monitors incoming and outgoing network
traffic and decides whether to allow or block it based on a specific set of security
rules.
