11.2.4Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is a family of radio technologies commonly used for wireless local area
networks, where data is transmitted in the form of radio waves that can pass through
walls and doors. Wi-Fi technology can be used to provide internet access to devices
within the wireless network range by connecting a wireless access point to the
internet service provider. In recent times, wireless internet (Wi-Fi) has been used in
public and open spaces such as airports and university campuses.
One of the key advantages of Wi-Fi connectivity is its ease of use, requiring only the
entry of the network name (SSID) and password. It is also characterized by flexibility,
allowing internet connectivity from anywhere within the access point's range.
However, Wi-Fi connections have their drawbacks, including instability, as the quality
of the connection is affected by factors such as distance from the access point and
interference from other devices. Additionally, if Wi-Fi is not configured properly, the
connection may be insecure and vulnerable to hacking.
