For example, if a host device on the local network sends data to another device
outside this network, it will route this data to the default gateway, which, in turn,
sends it to the other device through the best routes. Similarly, information from
another external network must pass through your router to reach the correct
destination. Remember that devices within the same local network can communicate
directly without the need for a default gateway.
The default gateway has its own address, which you can find using the ipconfig
command in the command prompt (cmd).
