choice. Require a use log. Then state how each piece of evidence is weighted.
Output: A new task description with drafts, a defense, and a use log.
Assessment criterion: The task collects at least three kinds of evidence, and the
disclosure requirement appears in the instructions rather than being assumed.

↻ Exercise 9: Review the accessibility of a resource
Goal: Remove real barriers rather than add formal compliance.

Required: One resource you already give to learners. Allow about 30 minutes.
Steps: Check the alternative to the visual channel and the alternative to the audio
channel. Check the reading order and the structure. Check the contrast, and whether the
meaning survives without color. Then fix the three barriers that block the most learners
and record what changed.
Output: Three documented fixes.
Assessment criterion: Each fix removes a barrier a real learner would have met. Adding a
label that no tool reads is not a fix.

↻ Exercise 10: Trial a small activity
Goal: Test a design on one person before using it with a class.

Required: Any design produced in the exercises above, and one willing learner or
colleague. Allow about 45 minutes.
Steps: Run the activity once. Record where the person hesitated, what they misread, and
what took longer than expected. Separate a flaw in the design from a flaw in the
instructions. Then make the changes and note the evidence for each one.
Output: A one-page report after running the design with one person.
Assessment criterion: Each change cites something observed during the trial. Changes
justified by general impression are not accepted.
