✓ Practical tip: Start with repeated work
List three tasks you repeat each week, then ask where AI could shorten the starting time,
organize the material, or suggest alternatives. Do not begin with the most sensitive task.
           Start

with a low-risk task whose output can be reviewed quickly.
           • Choose an output you can compare with what you produced before using AI.
           • Measure time, quality, and the number of corrections, not just your overall impression.
           • Do not move to automation until the underlying process itself is stable.

           ● Remember: Section summary

           • Key idea: AI already sits inside tools you use, so the question is where it adds value, not
           whether to begin.
           • Practical decision: Break a recurring task into steps and decide for each step whether AI
would accelerate, augment, or automate it.
           • Mistake to avoid: Measuring the speed of drafting instead of the time of the whole
           task, including review and correction.

1.2 What Is Artificial Intelligence, and What Does It Not Mean?

◆ Key idea: AI is a broad field; an AI system is a tool designed to perform a specific task.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field concerned with building systems that can perform tasks
commonly associated with perception, learning, analysis, planning, or decision-making. It
includes several approaches, ranging from explicitly written rules to models that learn from

         data.

An AI system is the practical application that receives data or instructions and produces a

prediction, content, recommendation, or decision. It may assist a person or carry out some
steps automatically within its granted permissions [2]. This definition describes a system that

performs a task, not a mind like the human mind.

Most systems in use today are specialized systems, sometimes described as narrow AI. They
may excel at a task or within a domain, but that ability does not automatically transfer to

every situation. Artificial general intelligence (AGI), by contrast, is a research concept
referring to broad and flexible capability across many domains. A powerful language model

should not therefore be described automatically as general intelligence.

The word “intelligence” may suggest that a system understands the world as people do. Yet

success in translation, image recognition, or plan generation does not demonstrate
consciousness or intent. AI systems operate through computation, patterns, and rules. They
