- To make data labels easier to read, you can move them inside data points or
even outside the chart. To move a data label, drag it to the location you want.
- If you find that labels make the chart look disorganized, you can remove them
or any of them by clicking the data labels and then pressing Delete.

- 1. Right-click a data series or data label to view more data for it, and then click
Format Data Labels.
- 2. Click on Label Options, then from Label Contains, choose the options you
want.
- 5.8.6 Use cell values as data labels
- You can use cell values as data labels for a chart.
- 1. Right-click a data series or data label to view more data for it, and then click
Format Data Labels.
- 2. Click Label Options and under Label Contains, select the Values from cells
check box.
- 3. When the Data Labels Range dialog box appears, return to the spreadsheet,
and select the range for which you want to display cell values as data labels.
When you do this, the selected range will appear in the Data Labels Range
dialog box. Click OK.
- Cell values will now be displayed as data labels in the chart.
- 5.8.7 Change the text displayed in data labels.
- 1. Click on the data label that contains the text you want to change, then click
on it again so that it is the only data label selected.
- 2. Select the existing text and type the alternative text.
- 3. Click anywhere outside the data label
