Virtual Conferencing
A virtual meeting is defined as an interactive conference (between two or more
attendees) attended in real time via the Internet using built-in audio and video. In
these meetings, video provides follow-up of the attendees' expressions and reactions
as well as responding to what they say and answering their questions. Virtual meetings
can also be called online meetings, video meetings, or web conferencing.
The importance of virtual conferencing
Virtual meetings allow universities and institutions to hold lectures, workshops, and
meetings regardless of location as the impact of spatial barriers that usually prevent
working relationships, continuity, and fruitful cooperation fades.
The benefits of online meetings include:
• Join team meetings from almost anywhere.
• Build stronger relationships between coworkers.
• Reduce commute time.
• Reduce transportation, travel and accommodation costs.
