5- Users are also allowed to report accounts based on the account content whether
it is spam or inappropriate. In the TikTok Support Center under “For Parents,”
parents are reassured that content that is inappropriate for their children can be
blocked and reported.
6- Users can also add videos, hashtags, filters, and sounds to the “Saved” section.
When creating a video they can go back to their saved section or create a video
directly from it. This section is only visible to the user on their profile allowing them
to bookmark any previously saved video, hashtag, filter or audio.
7- Users can also send videos, emojis, and messages to their friends through direct
messaging. Influencers often use the “Live Broadcast” feature. This feature is only
available to those who have at least 1,000 followers and are over 16 years old. If
you are over 18, a user's followers can send you virtual “gifts” that can later be
exchanged for money.
8- One of the newest features is the “Virtual Items” feature. This is based on China's
large practice of social gift giving. Since adding this feature, many beauty
companies and brands have created a TikTok account to share and advertise this
feature. With the quarantine in the United States, the popularity of social gifts has
increased. According to a TikTok representative, the campaign was launched as a
result of the lockdown “to build a sense of support and encouragement with the
TikTok community during these difficult times.” TikTok also announced a “Family
Safety Mode”0 for parents to be able to take control of their children’s well-being.
