Assessment criterion: Every field is filled, and the fields marked not yet defined are
exactly the ones that need a decision from you.
↻ Exercise 3: Classify the steps
Goal: Give each step to the executor that suits it.
Required: The card from Exercise 2. Allow about 30 minutes.
Steps: Label each step deterministic, generative, or human judgment. For every
deterministic step, ask why a model would do work a rule or a conventional tool does
exactly. For every generative step, name what is checked afterwards. For every human
step, name the authority the person holds.
Output: The step list with an executor and a justification for each step.
Assessment criterion: Exact operations such as arithmetic, lookup, and formatting are not
assigned to a generative step.
↻ Exercise 4: An executive summary chain
Goal: Build a chain whose middle can be inspected, not only its end.
Required: Three source materials on one subject. Allow about 40 minutes.
Steps: Split the work into three steps such as extraction, comparison, and drafting. Define
the input and the output of each. Place a gate after each step stating what must be true
before moving on. Then run the chain and keep every intermediate result.
Output: Three intermediate results and one final summary, with the three gates
recorded.
Assessment criterion: Each intermediate result exists as a separate artifact that can be
reviewed on its own. A chain that produces only a final text has no gates.
↻ Exercise 5: Meeting minutes
Goal: Turn a discussion into a record that drives action.
Required: The notes or the transcript of one real meeting. Allow about 30 minutes.
Steps: Separate the material into four lists: decisions taken, tasks with an owner and a
date, points left open, and the sources or figures cited. Mark every item that was said but
not settled. Then send the draft to one attendee for correction.
Output: Minutes in four separate sections, with the unsettled points listed explicitly.
Assessment criterion: A reader who did not attend can tell what was decided from what
was only discussed.
↻ Exercise 6: A before and after measurement
Goal: Measure the net gain rather than the drafting time.
Required: A process you have already changed, with a record of how it ran before. Allow
about 45 minutes.
Steps: Measure the cycle time from the trigger to the accepted output. Count the
reworks. Count the outputs accepted on the first pass. Then subtract the time added by
review, correction, and verification.
Output: A table comparing cycle time, rework, and first-pass yield before and after.
