Activity 12 :Configuring LAN and Sharing Files
Activity Obkective: Configure a LAN in the Laboratory
Materials needed: Computer connected to a local network
Activity duration: 20 minutes
Procedure:
Make sure the computer is connected to the cable connected to the wall outlet, then
enter the network settings or verify them from the DHCP server by following these
steps:
1. Click on Start Menu > Control Panel > Network

and Sharing Center or Network and Internet >
Network and Sharing Center.
2. Choose Change adapter settings.
3. Right-click on Wi-Fi or Local Area Connection.
4. Press Properties.
5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
6. Click on Properties.
7. Choose Use the following IP address.
8. Enter the IP address as follows: 192.168.1.x, where x represents the device
number in the lab.
9. Then enter Subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
10.Click OK.
11.Verify the IP address settings by right-clicking on Wi-Fi or Local Area Connection
and selecting Status.
