Resource Management:

The operating system coordinates all the resources (or hardware) of any
computer or system, such as memory, processor, storage devices, displays,
printers, etc. It also monitors system performance and task schedule, provides
protection, and starts the computer.

Providing the user interface: Graphical user interface and
                                           command line interface
     While working on computers, you
mostly interact with the operating
system, which provides a way to control
computers through its interface. The
interface that enables you to interact
with computers is called the "user
interface."

Almost all new operating systems use a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which
involves the user manipulating and selecting graphical elements that appear on
the screen, such as icons, button lists, dialog boxes, windows, etc. The GUI makes
it easier to work on any computer. Even for a novice user.

Many old operating systems use a symbol-based interface called the command-
line interface (CLI), which requires writing commands to computers.

Running applications:

The operating system loads and runs applications such as Microsoft Edge or
MS Word.

The majority of operating systems support the multitasking feature, which
allows several applications to run at the same time and switch between them.
