            It is considered the backbone of the computer system and the link between
        the user and the computer. The operating system (OS) is known as a group of
        software that is responsible for controlling commands and managing resources
        for both software and equipment.
        The operating system is divided according to its ability to run a program for the
        user into

      Single-tasking system:

               This system does not allow the user to run more than one program at the
        same time. In other words, he can execute only one program at a time. An
        example of this is the MS-DOS system.

       Multi-tasking system:

         which is a system that allows the user to deal with more than one program at the
        same time, and is divided into several types, including the single-user multi-
        tasking system that has the ability to execute more than one program at the same
        time. The CPU switches between tasks very quickly. Examples include windows,
        linux, and Mac OS

      Basic functions of the operating
      system:

        Every computer has an operating system
        that performs a set of various administrative
        tasks and facilitates its operation. Below are
        some of the common functions of the
        operating system.
