The educational system in Egypt has witnessed significant development in recent years, especially in the field of private higher education. Vision 2030 aims to increase the number of private and national universities, which requires the expansion of institutions in their educational and research activities in the coming years. This expansion aligns with the state's plans to build new cities and the new administrative capital. This growth is expected to attract foreign and Arab investment into this sector.
The General Administration for Equivalence of Private Universities and Institutes is responsible for equating degrees or certificates awarded by educational institutions not subject to the Universities Organization Law and its executive regulations.
The General Administration for Equivalence of Private Universities and Institutes consists of two departments:
The administration has proposed the development of an electronic system for the equivalence of degrees from private universities and higher institutes. This system includes a searchable guide for institutions not subject to Law No. 49 of 1972 and the degrees they award, facilitating university community access to information on institutional approval and equivalence renewal. An electronic system has also been developed to streamline the equivalence procedures, reducing time and costs associated with these processes. This system provides detailed information on the necessary procedures for obtaining equivalency and facilitates information exchange between relevant authorities.
Additional electronic services may include online payment for equivalency fees and application submissions. These services aim to ease access to educational and research services available at private and national educational institutions.
The administration uniquely handles the process of equating degrees or certificates awarded by institutions not subject to the Universities Organization Law nationwide. The vision of the administration is to improve the quality of services provided to private universities and institutes by simplifying procedures and implementing an advanced electronic system that leverages diverse human resources.
The ambitious strategic plan involves establishing policies, standards, and applications for the equivalency of certificates and degrees awarded by institutions not subject to Law No. 49 of 1973. This ensures transparency, scientific alignment, and the incorporation of all relevant criteria to safeguard the interests of students first and foremost.
