Online predators
Online predators want to assault or exploit youngsters sexually. Since they cannot recognise grooming symptoms or
grasp the possible consequences of online interactions, children are more susceptible to online predators. It is
imperative to take action to protect children from cyber predators. Parents and educators must follow these tips to
enable their children to stay away from internet predators:
           ✓ Educate children
Children should be educated on the risks of online predators, including how to identify and report suspicious
               behaviour.
           ✓ Monitor online activity
Parents should monitor their children's online activity and be aware of who they interact with online.
✓ Limit sharing of personal information
Children should be instructed not to share personal information, such as their name, address, or phone
               number, with strangers online.
           ✓ Use privacy settings
Parents should ensure that their children's social media and messaging apps have appropriate privacy settings
to prevent strangers from accessing or contacting their profiles.
           ✓ Create a safe environment
Parents should create a safe environment where children feel comfortable discussing concerns or questions
               about online interactions.

Government Efforts for Child Online Protection

National Council for Childhood and Motherhood
The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) was established in 1988 by a Presidential Decree with the
aim of policymaking, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating activities related to the protection and
development of children and mothers. It collaborates with NGOs, students, volunteers, community leaders, academia,
youth centers, schools, donors, and the UN. Since its establishment, the NCCM has played a crucial role in policymaking
and coordinating actions for children's welfare nationally and internationally, demonstrating a successful model.

       Efforts & Aims
The Egyptian Supreme Cybersecurity Council is concerned about safeguarding children online, acknowledging the value
of youth in Egyptian society as the future's leaders and accounting for almost 40% of the overall population. Therefore,
the council seeks to foster a trustworthy and secure online environment for kids to promote personal development
and societal advancement by joining efforts with NCCM and multiple governmental sectors to achieve the following
       goals:

✓ Protecting the Egyptian child in their digital environment
The main goal generally focuses on establishing the principle of digital citizenship in children. Additionally,
empowering the child to express their opinion on the development of the risks they face and their impact on
them is one of the most critical ways to empower them. This empowerment includes updating the state's
response frameworks to risks and developing tools to proactively empower the child to face these risks.
✓ Activating the role of industry in protecting children
This goal aims to activate and encourage the industry’s role, especially with the increasing number of children
using the internet, and to establish mechanisms to involve industry and the private sector in several areas,
most notably finding innovative solutions and technology to protect data, monitor crimes in the digital space
quickly, report them, and cooperate with the relevant authorities in the country.
✓ Developing organizational and legislative structures to protect children online
This goal aims to enhance the efficiency of the child protection system online by coordinating with all
specialized government and international agencies to develop effective policies and frameworks. It also
