✓ Use a different password for every account.
✓ Use a Password Strength Meter.
✓ Use a password manager.
✓ A password manager uses a particular database to create and store unique passwords. Thus, you don't
have to remember them.
✓ Use biometric passwords.
✓ Such as fingerprint scanning or facial recognition. They are very secure as no one except you can use
them.
✓ Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
✓ It typically requires you to enter your password and a unique code sent to your phone or email,
offering the best protection for sensitive accounts like your bank account.
Secure Your Mobile Phone:
✓ Turn on auto-update features for all devices and applications.
✓ Use biometric passwords.
✓ Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as often as possible.
✓ This limits your device's visibility to nearby devices.
✓ Customize your encryption settings.
✓ Turn on encryption if your device is not encrypted by default. You should also adjust your privacy
settings to limit the access of different applications to your data.
✓ Enable device tracking for lost and stolen phones.
✓ So, you can use them to track the device location and lock access to the device remotely.
✓ Avoid using untrusted public Wi-Fi.
Maintain Personal Privacy and a Robust Online Reputation:
✓ Google yourself.
If you can find yourself on it, attackers can too. This step will reveal any personal information that is available
to the public. Thus, you can delete anything you do not want anyone to see.
✓ Adjust your privacy settings.
Many accounts are set to minimal privacy by default. Ensure that your tweets, posts and other social accounts
are private and visible to your followers or friends only, if you want to keep your personal data secure from
imposters.
✓ Deactivate and/or delete accounts you aren't using.
If you wish to maintain these old accounts, make sure that you set them to "private".
Backup your data:
✓ Consider using cloud storage.
The cloud physically separates your data from your location. Besides, you will benefit from a high level of
availability.
✓ Keep your backup separate from your computer.
You can also use the cloud, USBs or external hard drives for backup.
Stay Away from Malware:
✓ Use an antivirus or antispyware.
✓ Use a popup blocker to prevent popup ads and banners.
✓ Don't click on popups or links.
✓ Update your devices.
✓ Watch for any warning signs indicating malware has been installed on your device.
