On Sources, Figures, and Verification
Every factual claim in this book that depends on an external source carries a reference
number, and every numbered reference was opened and checked. Where a claim rests on
a single study, the text says so and describes what the study actually measured, rather than
what it is often taken to mean.
The figures are prepared by the author unless the caption says otherwise. Where a
figure organizes an idea taken from published work, the source line names that work. Where
a framework is the author’s own teaching device, a note beside it says so explicitly and
names the official standard it is not.
Each chapter also lists a small number of educational videos. Every one carries a publisher,
a duration, a level, a learning objective, and a link, and each link is printed in full and repeated
as a code you can scan from the page.
