The security model adopted by Telegram received prominent criticism from a number
of cryptography experts, as they criticized the general security model for storing all
contact data, messages, and media with each other, attached to their decryption keys,
on the company’s servers, supposedly, and not through the default activation of the
end-to-end encryption system for messages. Pavel Durov explains why this helps avoid
unsafe backups by third parties and enables users to open messages and files on any
device. Cryptography experts also criticized Telegram's resort to using a special
encryption protocol whose security and reliability have not been proven. In some
countries, Telegram was subjected to censorship, such as being blocked in Russia and
Iran, or even blocked in light of the accusations the application faced of helping it
facilitate illegal activities such as terrorism, in addition to to the decreasing demand
for easier government access to individuals' data, communications, and personal
information.
There are also many features of the Telegram application, which are:
1- Telegram users can use Internet of Things services through the use of IFT, which has
come into effect.
2- The instant browsing feature is a way to view and download web pages without
taking any time.
3- Telegraph feature: It is a publishing tool used to create rich publications with images
and different media.
4- Linking accounts: Telegram accounts are linked to phone numbers and are verified
via SMS or phone calls. Users can open their account on multiple devices and receive
messages on each device. The devices on which the account is open can also be
removed individually or they can be removed all at once.
5- Messages: Unlike the WhatsApp application, for example, messages in Telegram can
be accessed from any of the user’s connected devices, who can share photos, video
clips, audio messages, and other files that may reach a size of up to 2 GB per file.
Users can also send messages to other users. Individually or in groups of up to
200,000 members.
6- Chat bot: In June 2015, Telegram launched a platform for third-party developers to
create and develop chat bots. In general, bots are Telegram accounts that are
managed automatically through a specific program and can respond to messages or
signals. They can also - i.e. bots - join specific groups or integrate. With other
chatbots.
