Brainstorming methods

The brainstorming method in teaching is one of the modern and effective strategies

in solving problems, which aims to generate the largest number of creative ideas for the

student in the shortest possible time and put them on the table of possibilities as a

solution to this problem. This strategy has certain principles and definitions that will be

     examined.

     Definition of brainstorming

Brainstorming is defined as one of the active learning strategies that aims to put the

learner's mind in a state of readiness and anticipation. To generate the largest number of

spontaneous ideas about a problem with the aim of solving it, after sifting through these

ideas and selecting the best among them.

     General principles of brainstorming

This strategy is characterized by general principles:
        • Avoiding evaluation: This strategy is characterized by presenting all the ideas that
come to the student’s mind without evaluating them, especially in the first stage.
        • Freedom of thought: This strategy stimulates the mind to work with complete and

           absolute freedom.
        • Commitment: Participants must adhere to the principles and rules that are presented

           before starting the brainstorming process.
        • Building on the ideas of others: Participants can generate new ideas from or build on

the ideas of some other participants.
